I'm excited by how excited YOU guys are over the New 52

Guys, its no secret I love comics, and especially the DCU.  One of the major goals of my blogging since I started way, way back in April of 2003 was to share my interest in comics of all sorts, share my interest in the colorful world of DC Comics and Superman, and see if that interest couldn't rub off on anybody else.

Its been no small bit of joy to me the past few days as a couple of you guys have emailed me or side-barred with me asking about the new Justice League comic or the New 52.  I think this is the point of DC's exercise in rebooting, in giving folks who either quit reading comics or never read comics a window and an opportunity to check out comics in a really easy way.

The comics, either in store or online, will mostly be $2.99, but, yes, Action Comics and Justice League are $3.99 to account for page count.  A month after they were released, comics will reduce in price by $1.  Thus, in a month, most DC Comics will reduce to $1.99.  Not free, but not $3 a pop.

You can read and buy DC Comics at Comixology.

If you'd rather do print, then you can find your local comic shop by visiting the Comic Shop Locator.

Here's my promise to you:  I will always do my best to be truthful and honest with you guys about a comic.  But please read my reviews and opinions for what they are - one kind of sad dude on the internet talking about something he spends an inordinate amount of time pondering.  You're people of free will and thoughts.  We're here to start and/ or moderate a discussion.

Don't hesitate to raise questions, ask about comics, DC, Superman, etc...  we're here to help and we want for you to enjoy comics, period.

I have not offered up guest columns with the New 52, but if you send something in, and its not full of swears, we can talk about publishing it.  If you have a link to your own site (Jake.  Simon.), let me know and we'll do what we can to publicize it.

I'm biting my tongue a bit right now on the New 52 because some of what I see and am concerned about likely isn't obvious to the newish reader, and I don't want my personal take coloring your chance to find a whole new universe created with you in mind.  We can talk all of that later.

In the meantime, I really hope those of you coming back find something in the 52 to explore and enjoy.  I know it can be a little new and maybe overwhelming, but I'll be the Isaac on your Love Boat of comics.  Let me know how I can help.

I'm pretty stoked about the new 52. I've always though there's a lot to like about DC. I'm definitely gonna check out a few titles and give'em a tumble. Despite my skepticism, I'm quite interested in Action Comics. And of course the Justice League. I'll rely on you to give me the skinny on the rest.

And I would be remiss if I didn't give you props for getting me here. I stumbled on your blog somehow months ago and I'm glad I did. It's fun to find a site where I can chat with folks who care about the same stuff as me. I'm most impressed you find the time to keep this up daily. I wish I could say that. Anyway, thanks and keep it up!

Simon, definitelys end something along!

Jake, I'm thrilled to have you onboard, and I can't wait to hear what you have to say on all of these books. Hopefully DC will deliver on the promise they've extended.
